The Hottest Skorts!

Ok, so a quick bit of history 1 on 1 about the iconic skort.  Sometimes called a scooter (although scooters generally look like a skirt all the way round)  or skant, skorts were invented, in essence, to help us ladies keep our dignity and enable us to carry out more activities such as gardening, riding a bike, cleaning, without the inevitable "revealing of the panties" and of course keep us feminine by providing us with a "skirt".
I love them, I remember as a child always wearing culottes and I feel a skort is the more grown up take on this.  I recently purchased these gorgeous floral skorts from New Look for £17.99.  They have a stretchy waistband and are made of a thicker material, which I love because even when its a warm evening I'm still a cold potato! Plus I feel a little more dressed if material is thicker.

I have trawled the inter-web looking for the most gorgeous skorts and have found 4 different look skorts that will suit any occasion.

The Festival Skort - This geometric patterned skort is from Miss Selfridge and is £25.  I love the pattern and I feel it gives an instant hippy festival vibe!

The Sequin Party Skort – This skort is the perfect addition to your party wardrobe.  Its from Pretty Little Thing and is £15.  This skort is such a stand out piece that all you will need is a simple crop top to create the perfect party outfit.

The Preppy Skort – I love how now even skorts are becoming accessible for the work wardrobe.  This gorgeous pleated skort is from ASOS and is £35.  I love the pairing of it with a shirt and jumper and frilly socks for the ultimate Preppy Queen look, it reminds me of Blair from Gossip Girl!

The Metallic Skort – Ok so all my readers will know I have fallen head over heels for metallics this season, the biggest trend on the London Fashion Week catwalk and this gorgeous metallic skort is from Missguided for £19.99, its another perfect party piece but dress down with a shirt and necklace for understated glamour.

Well hope all my vanillabeans will be rushing out to buy gorgeous skorts in anticipation of the great british summer beginning………….sometime soon hopefully!

Spring Hair!

Well springtime is finally here and that means only one thing, for me anyway, new hair!! Every so often I get this deep urge to just scrap my current style and start over and so after flicking through magazines and looking online at all the beautiful celebrities I thought I would do a hair blog on the colours I, and the celebrities are, loving this season!

April payday will see me have a transformation but in the meantime soaking up inspiration will be my main goal!

I believe our bodies are canvases and we should make them beautiful anyway we want to, hair style/colour, tattoos/piercings, clothes, jewellery.  I love that everyone is unique, I think that is what makes the world go round.

So watch this space because hopefully (if I pluck up the courage) I will have a big transformation come the end of April!! Woohoo.  But in the meantime I will let you lust over my most loved styles this season!

Can't wait to hear what colours/trends/styles you are loving with hair this season!! Would love to see pictures of my readers and their gorgeous styles!

E.L.F Cosmetic Haul

I recently discovered a new brand of cosmetics E.L.F (eyes, lips, face) and with 40% discount on offer at the time I bought what better time to discover them!

I ordered 6 items from them, 2 x plumping lipglosses, lip liner, corrective concealer palette, eyebrow treat and tame, and eyebrow stencils.

1. Natural Blush Long Wear Lip Liner - I have quite full lips already but I love to make them a feature with my make up and I feel that lip liner does this brilliantly! I had already chosen my colours of lipglosses so I chose a lip liner that I felt would go well with them.  I chose Natural Blush lip liner for £1.95.

2.  Baby Doll Plumping Lip Glaze - Again another product to keep my lips looking gorgeously full.  I love plumping lipglosses but I do feel some of them make your lips tingle and sting beyond belief.  The complete opposite is true of this product.  It has two ends, the first to apply is a clear gloss that plumps up your lips painlessly, the second is the colour gloss.  Baby Doll is a light pink colour, its a subtle pink colour but still evident enough that you can see it. £1.95.

(Me wearing E.l.f. Baby Doll Plumping Gloss)

3.  Fire Coral Plumping Lip Glaze - Another plumping lip glaze but this time in Fire Coral.  From the name you can guess its a brighter shade of pink colour with a coral undertone to it. £1.95

4.  Eyebrow Stencils - Regular readers of my blog will know that I have "barely there brows" - Im lucky if I have to tweeze them twice a year! They just don't want to grow!! So I decided I would buy two products from E.L.F. to get me brow-beautiful.  The first was an eyebrow stencil kit! It comes with 4 stencils (soft arch, structured arch, curved arch and full arch), you choose the one that best suits your natural brow, align the stencil and then create with your normal pencil or powder etc.  So I am going to do a separate post using the kit so you can see how I look with stand out brows! ......This should be interesting! Priced at £1.95 I thought they would at least give me a giggle at myself, but for you gorgeously browed gals out there I think these are a must have!

5.  Eyebrow Treat and Tame in Light - There are two sections to this product, a clear gel that you put over your brows to repair and restore them and the tame section using a mascara style applicator to keep your brows in place and help give a full look.  I've been using the treat at bedtime so it works through the night and the tamer I've been applying before I use my eyebrow pencil to complete my look. This is priced at £3.95.

6.  Corrective Concealer (Erase and Conceal) - I've never really used correctors and concealers on my skin before, the odd primer here, a little blemish stick there but I've never religiously used these products.  The E.L.F. corrective concealer palette has 4 colours:
yellow - for dark circles or bruises that are purple or blue
blue - to erase orange hues, like tan lines
green - to cover spots, scars or skin conditions like rosacea
pink - to brighten the inner and outer corner of the eyes.

I've been using the green and pink concealers the most and have found they really do make a difference.  I have a couple of scars from old spots and I apply the green concealer before my foundation and have found they look dramatically reduced.  I find I have quite closed eyes so I've been using the pink to try and give the illusion of a wider eye. Priced at £3.95

I really can't wait to get my next order in to try all the products on my wishlist.

Mineral Infused Face Primer in Radiant Glow

Spring Coat Love

Well spring is finally upon us, my car temperate guide is screaming 19 degrees and I'm loving it, finally my jumpers, scarves, gloves and heavy winter coats can make way for mini skirts, plimsoles and strappy cami's.  And to celebrate this I treated myself to a spring boyfriend coat. I've been crushing on these all winter, but I'm not usually a fan of extreme loose fitting items as I feel they amaze me look fat, I'm not a girl that can look skinny in boyfriend style clothes, I just look fat lol.

I ordered this gorgeous coat from www.deliciousdresses.co.uk . It's in the style of Jess Wright from TOWIE and at only £35 it was a must have.

Two days later it arrived and the parcel was ripped open and it was put on immediately.

It's a really light coat but kept me surprisingly warm. It's a gorgeous peachy pink colour with a multi colour stitching effect. I know this coat is going to be a sell out, it's the perfect addition to anyone's spring wardrobe. It comes in two sizes, small/medium and medium/large.  I got the small/medium and it fits me perfectly and I'm a size 10.

Coat - www.deliciousdresses.co.uk
Vest top - river island
Jeans -new look
Plimsoles - primark

I hope you love this coat as much as I do vanillabeans xoxo

Metallics are trending

When I attended London Fashion Weekend , I went to the trend catwalk show and one must have trend was metallics. I always thought metallics were a little too dressy but with a bit of tweaking of outfits I've managed to make my metallic item work casually and at party time!!

I purchased the gorgeous Missguided Kitty Metallic Mini Skater Skirt in rose gold for £1.99 on the brilliant eBay......eBay is always worth a look before purchasing something full price, once you've bought something and had it on once the price will just keep on depreciating so why not get yourself a bargain rather than always selling your items at bargain prices!!

To keep the skirt casual I teamed with my simple Primark white shirt and white Primark plimsoles. The outfit kept me looking glam but with a casual edge.

To transform it to an outfit fit for the party scene I simple changed into my stunning Paris Hilton Nude Platform Heels.

I would definitely recommend  a metallic piece this season, whether it's a skirt or top or jacket, metallic is definitely a must have that you need to be seen in. This skirt is still available on Missguided's website for approximate £4.49.

I hope you love trending metallics as much as I do!  Enjoy vanillabeans xoxo

Bowler Love

I'm in love with hats. I would probably wear a lot more if the wind would get lost and not rip them off my head, but on yet another shopping trip I could not resist this light blue bowler hat in River Island for £15.00.

I find that I suit some hats and not others, I can't wear beanie hats, they just "ain't my bag baby" as Austin Powers would say! I think it's important to find your hat style, do this by trying lots on and do it with a friend or boyfriend/girlfriend so that you get an honest opinion about what suits you and what doesn't. I suit hats that sit off my face so bowlers are great because I can sit them back a bit, and I always find my hats look better on me when I have a bit more volume in my hair, or a bit of a curl.

I love the colour of my light blue bowler, it's falling into the pastel trend tick box and will be great to wear all year round, casual with some jeans or would add an edge to a going out outfit. These hats are available in a few different colours online (cream, black, light pink and of course the light blue), in my local store there was only the light blue available.

I've attached the link for the bowler incase I have persuaded you to buy or browse for the other colours, there are some wool material bowlers, currently in the sale making way for the colourful summer bowlers, so get grabbing a bargain!

Nucerity: Skincerity Review

Well a few weeks ago I got sent a gorgeous skin are product by NuCerity called Skincerity, Nightly Breathable Masque.  The mask is used to tone and tighten skin along with helping to reduce lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores and redness of the skin. This miracle option also helps dry and damaged skin, so perfect for those beauty queens that abuse the sun beds!

Ingredients:
Acetone, Flouropolymer, Acrylic polymer, Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E), Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Fragrance.

The review:
I applied this last night to my freshly cleansed face. You simply use the bottle like a roll on deodorant and apply all over your face (can be applied to any area needing repaired though such as arms, chest etc), be careful near your eyes.
             Fresh Face                              Application

When applying the smell does overpower you a bit, it isn't unpleasant though, it just smells like nail polish remover, and this is due to it containing Acetone, but this disappeared in seconds!  Within a minute my face was feeling wonderfully tight, barely able to move my mouth my boyfriend found this hilarious. But all I knew is that it felt like it was working.

Finished face (you can see the shine from the masque)

When I woke up this morning the masque had dried and it was easy to start peeling off, I removed most of it with warm water and a face cloth. My skin was so soft and smooth underneath.  So I have vowed to keep this part of my daily skin are routine and will apply it every night.

Overall I give this product 8/10 only because 1. The acetone smell. 2. I need to keep it up to see the results.

Review: Illegal Length Fibre Extensions Mascara

Well the bargainista strikes again! I found this gorgeous product on sale and you know me, if it's on sale I've gotta have it!!

The Maybelline Illegal Length Fibre Extensions Mascara is instant lash extension effect in a tube, it uses 4mm fibres to attach to your own lashes to create this effect. The specially designed fibre fix brush "reaches each lash from a different angle for optimal fibre placement and the sealing formula visibly stretches lash appearance".

I removed my normal mascara today using a facial wipe to reveal my natural lashes so I had a blank canvas to work on.

The packaging said that I should not let the mascara dry between coats, so I applied to one set of lashes and then the next, I repeated this a further two times. It was really easy to apply and when I got some on my eyelids it was easily removed with a facial wipe, no need to really scrub, I'm a bit of easy mascara applier lol!  The results are below:

Opinion: I really like this mascara, I did find it clumped my lashes slightly but simply using an eyelash comb I think would solve this issue, plus my eyelashes are slightly wrecked from when I pulled off my false individual lashes - a tip to you all use some cotton wool and baby oil to do this, do not get tempted the morning after the night before to just rip these off when lying in bed with bf and a few are falling out lol! I think my lashes look a lot fuller and longer after applying the mascara and I'm sure teamed with some individual lashes I would be party ready.

Overall: 8/10 for this quick false lash effect fix!

Can be bought from a variety of retailers from approx. £4.49 upwards.

The Tan That's Making Me Glam!!

So after feeling like rubbish the past week or so I decided that the other thing that makes me happy, besides shopping, is tanning! I came across a new tan whilst doing my Tescos food shop a couple of weeks ago called Paradise Miracle Tan Lotion. Priced at £5.99 I thought "ach why not,".

I tried this tan for the first time on Friday night and when first applying I was a little scared. I usually use mousse tans and have become quite use to the dark chocolate brown colour that goes onto my skin to be washed off the next day to leave a medium bronzed tan. This tan went on and almost disappeared, it's a caramel colour lotion, I usually like the dark colour when I apply because it gives me a guide to where I've applied so I'm not patchy. So on Friday because of the "fright" I thought I would just tan my legs incase I was a patchy and streaky mess.  To my delight on Saturday morning I was the opposite, I was a sunkissed glowing goddess!! I could see the colour difference between my legs and my big behind! I was completely steak free, unusual for me and even more unusual for my legs which don't ever seem to take tan well for some bizarre reason.

So this morning I decided to continue tanning the rest of my body so I was even and not multi-tonal. It doesn't have an overbearing tan smell, of course it has a smell but it's nothing major and noticeable.  It went on really easily and my skin felt really soft and moisturised, I also had a glistening shimmer of glitter all over my body which I love! I hate when you feel like a mess when you've fake tanned because your sticky and a bit patchy until the colour has been absorbed and you are even. There was a little bit of stickiness with this tan but it was more like the stickiness you get after all over body buttering, not a horrible uncomfortable stickiness.  I've been able to go about today feeling great, not sticking to my clothes!

Overall I give this tan a 9/10. I'm just still getting use to tanning with a lotion and not a mousse so the subtle colour when applying does throw me off a little.

I would recommend everybody to give this a try, at £5.99 it's not going to break the bank.  The colour is a nice sun kissed glow which can be made darker by applying over subsequent days, this is definitely a great tan to get ready for the upcoming spring and summer.

I left my hand un-tanned so you could see difference

Hope you like it as much as I do vanillabeans xoxo

I do love a kimono!!

Just a small blog post today, sorry I've been a bit quiet but I've been slowly dying in my bed with a cold!! But online shopping has proven to be a good cure!!

I've always wanted a kimono, chic and loose and perfect with jeans and a vest top and statement jewellery for summer, so I decided this pay day I would treat myself.  I'm really loving New Look at the moment, it's a high street retailer that has come on leaps and bounds and I can always rely on, so my New Look wish list has been steadily growing and I put in it this gorgeous floral kimono that was £19.99.

Few days later I went to buy the kimono and guess what £7.99 off!! Love a bargain! So that was bought right away and arrived today! Unfortunately it's now sold out in the purple but is available in blue and white and a navy and red option at £19.99, I've posted links below for the two available options and a picture of the one I bought!!

Payday Treats......Well Some Of Them

Feels like ages since I posted a blog, unfortunately the kiddies have been keeping me busy, but on Wednesday it was payday so I thought I would show you the first of my buys! I will also do a YouTube post so you can see the items "in the flesh" so keep an eye on my twitter (sliceofvanilla1) for the link!! I will also be running a competition shortly so keep your eyes peeled!!

All of my clothes are from Missguided.  I do love a Missguided spending spree when payday arrives!! I bought two skirts, a jumper and a Bardot style bodysuit. I love the skirts because I can wear them to work when I return as well. The pastel purple skirt is great because it incorporates two trends, pastels and sports luxe. The white stripe down the side of the skirt really adds a sports feel to it, it takes you back to the days where people counted how many stripes were on your track suit to see how much money you had lol! But gone are the days of two or three stripes, one is all you need now!!  I also bought a gorgeous lilac cropped jumper, I'm loving lilac at moment, even my nails are lilac! and a classic Bardot bodysuit will be great for summer time or to glam up a skirt!

Lerine Midi Skirt £12.99                        Virgilla Mesh Midi Skirt £14.99

Berte Cropped Jumper £16.99                 Dominica Bardot Bodysuit £6.49

www.missguided.co.uk

I also bought myself a couple of cosmetic goodies, I had been reading about Maybelline's Better Skin foundation and I had a test of this at LFWE so I decided to buy some in Light Beige, its so easy to apply and suits my skin colour perfectly.  I also bought a new Rimmel Blusher in colour 010 Santa Rose, I found my bright pink one to be a little OTT for the days I just wanted a subtle glow, its a bronze/orange tinted colour, which I feel suits my skin tone a lot better that a bright pink, it also helps to contour my face.  I bought both from Tescos.  But can be bought from any cosmetic retailer, Boots, Superdrug etc.
Maybelline Better Skin £8.99                     Rimmel Santa Rose blusher £3.99
 (variety of shades available)

The last thing from this payday spending spree was a new fake tan! Everyone knows I'm a huge fan of Along Came Betty tan from Tescos, but I haven't been able to get my hands on it for 2 months! So whilst browsing the shelves I came along Paradise Miracle Tan which has been exclusively designed for Tescos.  Its priced at £5.99.  I've yet to use this but will do a review on it when I do at the weekend.  It's a gradual tan lotion that's meant to give you an all year round glow..............so we will see if it does! (Only available in store)

Remington Pearl Wand

Hi guys, well after seeing another beauty bloggers YouTube video I dashed out to my local tescos to pick up the amazing Remington Pearl Wand! I knew it was meant to be by the £15 off sign that Tescos were parading in front of me, and the fact that there was only one left on the shelf was also another pretty big sign!!

I used the wand first thing this morning and it did not disappoint!! It was so easy to use, 30 second heat up time and I protected my "wrapping around hand" with the glove that came with it.  After blow drying and spraying on Label M protein spray I parted the bottom and top half of my hair (my hair is quite thin). I then proceeded to separate and curl the bottom section, until it was all done as show in the picture below.

I then repeated the process on the top until my hair was curled to perfection and I was looking like a short haired Goldilocks as shown below.

I love the pearl wand, I love the girly floral design on the handle of the wand, it's so easy to use, it's inexpensive, even at full price.  Definitely a must have!!

I've enclosed a link to Tescos website for their current offer of the product.

My Bargain Spree

Well yesterday I decided to spend the last of my money before payday on a wee bargain spree!  So below is a wee collage of what I bought!

1.  Bobby pins and bobbles from Primark at £1 each, nothing exciting but a staple in any girls hair accessory box

2. P.S. Love Lip Stain by Primark at £1.50 - I tried this today and it is absolutely gorgeous on, its just like applying a felt tip pen to your lips, really easy and the colour is lush.  The colours don't have names but the one I bought is like a bright coral pink.

3.  MUA eye brow pencil in Blonde at £1 available from Superdrug, using a lighter shade than the normal brown I go for I was able to create a soft eye brow shape, which is brilliant for me as I don't suit harsh eyebrows.

4.  LASH false lash applicator at £1.66 from Superdrug.  This is now being discontinued the lady in the shop said so rush to your nearest Superdrug and pick one of these up at the discounted price.  Its been designed to hold your strip eyelash to make it easier to apply!! Genius invention!

5.  Gorgeous floral cami for £4 and blue maxi skirt with front slit £3 (down from £8) both from Primark!  Absolutely gorgeous bargains!
